Langweile

In German “Langweile“ means boredom. The roots are Lange- long, and weilen- to tarry. If you believe, like I do, that it is important to experience idleness to be creative, it becomes apparent why it is important for children to occasionally experience “Langeweile”, or boredom. It is their form of idleness and in order to overcome its inertia, they have to come up with something better. Take note parents of the world: “I’m bored” is just the early stage of creative play.
