After rereading the trilogy of the Women of Troy by Pat Barker and watching the Odyssey movie, I tripped onto this book along the way. Miller's use of language in telling Circe's story makes the character sing. She brings to life the lore of Greek Gods in a way I haven't experienced before. Masterful.
I like the fact that the gods are so very poorly behaved, not just because they act like spoilt kids who have never grown up, but because their all-reaching power inhibits any sophisticated thoughts from taking place.
