My haiku habit (week 7)

The pull of the Orkneys

Behind Scapa Flow
A lonely island with sheep
Yearning for quiet.

Crass velvet painting

Bright pumpkin orange
Is only found in nature
And not on a brush.

Where to look with all that beauty

Night watch northern skies
Draw eyes away from icebergs
Pay dear attention.

The storm has yet to come

Smug in my deck chair
I’m watching the world go by
Smiling ear-to-ear.

Big ship does make a difference

Fast winds, giant waves
We are ploughing our way through
My brain closing down.

Back on deck at last

The storm is over
The rumblings in my stomach
Slide down a rainbow.

Such a big smile

Wind blasting so strong
Can’t keep my camera still
Waving a hello.
